Loyola's theatre program lands award nominations for theatrical productions

Last week, Gambit Weekly announced the nominees for the Big Easy Theater Awards. Loyola University New Orleans Department of Theatre Arts and Dance received two nominations in the category of Best University Production for its 2008 shows “The Bug” and “Spinning into Butter.”
Geoffrey Hall, assistant professor of theatre arts, also received a coveted nomination in the Best Set Design category for his work in “The Clean House,” produced by Southern Repertory Theatre.
Loyola theatre also received five nominations in the annual Ambie Awards sponsored by Ambush Magazine held at Le Chat Noir on Monday, Feb. 9. The nominations were for its productions “Spinning Into Butter” (Best Production of a Drama; Best Director of a Play, Laura Hope; Best Actress in a Play, Laura Friedmann; and Best Sound Design, Priscilla Jenkins), and “The Bug” (Best Ensemble - Brittany Chandler, Cynthia Davila, Joshua Eichhorn and Rebecca Elizabeth Hollingsworth).
The Big Easy Theater Awards, sponsored by Gambit Weekly, Harrah’s New Orleans Casino and Hotel, John Jay Salon and Coleman E. Adler & Sons, will be held Monday, March 30, at Harrah’s New Orleans Casino.
