Students awarded art exhibitions in Danna Student Center Gallery

The artwork of the winners of the Scully Scholarship and the Mark Grote Endowed Award in Visual Art will be on display in the Danna Student Center Gallery this month
Artwork by Alexandra Gelpi and Eliza Schulze, who won the Scully Scholarship, will be displayed in the Danna Student Center Gallery March 2 –13. Works by Michelle Pontiff, Alexandra Gelpi and Tuyen Nguyen, who won the Mark Grote Award, will be displayed March 13 – 22.
There will be an opening reception for the Mark Grote Award show on Monday, March 16, at 5 p.m., in the Danna Student Center Gallery. Admission to the gallery is free and open to the public.
The Scully Scholarship, named for Lydia and Raymond Scully of New Orleans, is an annual award given to two art students who demonstrate an aesthetically strong body of work and a professional commitment to the creative practice of visual art. The students are also provided an opportunity to display their work in an exhibition in the Danna Center Gallery the following spring semester.
The Mark Grote Award, provided by Mark Grote, professor of visual arts, is an annual award given to visual arts students who are pursuing a bachelor of fine arts or bachelor of arts degree in studio art. Each year, it is given to students who demonstrate an aesthetically strong talent and a professional commitment to the creative practice of visual art.
