LIM presents Rev. Lambrecht's final public lecture at Loyola
February 27, 2009
The Loyola Institute for Ministry presents “The Seven Last Words of Jesus,” a Lent 2009 lecture and workshop, presented by the Rev. Jan Lambrecht, S.J. The free lecture, which will be Lambrecht’s final public lecture at Loyola, takes place Friday, March 13, at 7 p.m., and the workshop takes place Saturday, March 14, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Both events will be held in the Danna Student Center’s Audubon Room, located on Loyola’s main campus. The workshop is $25 per person and includes breakfast and lunch. Every fourth registration from a parish is free.
Lambrecht, a world-renowned Scripture scholar, will reflect on the final words of Jesus at the lecture and subsequent workshop. Friday’s lecture will focus on “Forgive them, for they know not what they do,” “Today you will be with me in Paradise,” and “Father, into your hands I commend my spirit,” while the workshop will concentrate on the remainder of the quote.
Lambrecht is a visiting member of Loyola’s Department of Religious Studies and will be returning to Belgium at the end of this semester.
“He has generously shared his wisdom with Loyola and the greater New Orleans community for two years,” says Tom Ryan, director of LIM.
Lambrecht is the dean emeritus of the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium, and has served on the Pontifical Biblical Commission. He holds a doctorate in sacred scripture from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome.
