Piano professor performs part two of Prokofiev Piano Sonata Series

Professor and pianist John R. Murphy will present the second concert in his three-part series highlighting the piano sonatas of Sergei Prokofiev on Friday, Feb. 6, at 7:30 p.m., in Roussel Performance Hall, located in the Communications/Music Complex on Loyola’s main campus.
In this installment, Murphy will perform Sonata no. 2 in d minor, Op.14; Sonata no. 3 in a minor, Op. 28; Sonata no. 4 in c minor, Op. 29; and Sonata no. 7 in B-flat Major, Op.83.
Murphy has performed in many of the United States’ most distinguished musical centers. He was a student of famed pianists Ruth Slenczynska, Bela Siki and Gyorgy Sandor, to whom which this concert series is dedicated.
The performance is free and open to the public.
