During the Loyola University New Orleans faculty and staff spring convocation on Jan. 23, the University Faculty Senate honored four of its colleagues with prestigious awards.
Faculty Senate Chair Fr. Robert S. Gerlich, S.J., Ph.D., associate professor of history, and Faculty Senate Awards Committee Chair Janna K. Saslaw, Ph.D., associate professor of music theory, presented awards in four categories: teaching, advising, research and community service.
Marcus M. Kondkar, Ph.D., associate professor of sociology, and Robert A. Thomas, Ph.D., interim director of the School of Mass Communication and the Loyola chair of Environmental Communications, shared the teaching award. John T. Sebastian, Ph.D., assistant professor of medieval literature, received the advising award, and Frank Jordan, Ph.D., associate professor and chair of the Department of Biology, received both the research award and the community service award.
Recipients were nominated by faculty members, staff or students and were selected on their superior performances in the particular area and the strength of the nomination letters.
