Loyola at a Glance
Local nonprofits will be on campus to promote volunteerism
January 16, 2009
The Office of Service Learning at Loyola University New Orleans presents “SERVE: A Volunteer Fair” on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 5 to 7 p.m., in the St. Charles Room of the Danna Student Center. The fair is free, and food will be served.
Dozens of local nonprofits and service agencies will be available to talk to interested students about volunteer opportunities within their agencies. The American Red Cross, Catholic Charities, Common Ground Relief, Boys Hope Girls Hope, Bayou Rebirth, Urban League College Track, Louisiana Greencorps, New Orleans Women’s Shelter, New Orleans Legal Aid and STAIR are some of the agencies participating.
Each agency will staff a display table, at which students can learn more about ongoing service opportunities and one-time volunteer projects.
Students enrolled in designated service learning courses at Loyola who are looking for service placements for a course, and those who are looking for general service opportunities for themselves or for a club or group, are encouraged to attend.
