Basketball player Ryan Brock racking up honors

Ryan Brock survived a four-overtime game and scored 50 points on the week for Loyola as the Louisiana Sports Writers Association named Brock men’s basketball player of the week announced on Tuesday after a vote of an LSWA panel. The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference also named Brock Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 10.
Brock, a New Orleans sophomore, helped Loyola to two victories to start Gulf Coast Athletic Conference play. He had 25 points in what is believed to be the longest game in Loyola history, a 106-102 win over William Carey that went four overtimes. The reigning GCAC Player of the Week, also scored 25 points in a road win (81-74) over Dillard. He had 13 rebounds in the two games, hitting 18-of-35 total field goals and 14-of-21 free throws. Brock currently is 13th in NAIA Division I scoring with an average of 19.85 points per game.
