Loyola women's hoops: Council has career-high day in win over Allen
December 12, 2008
Garkeiva Council had a career high 20 points as Loyola defeated Allen 79-36 Saturday afternoon in the Allen Gymnasium.
Council, who was also the leading scorer in the game, converted three of five from beyond the arc. She grabbed six rebounds and passed out four assists.
Trenelle Smith added 14 points and seven steals for Loyola (2-4). Her sister, Trenese, added 11 points and six assists. Christine Mainguy finished with 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Britney Jones and LeRonna Drayton were the only players in double figures for Allen. They each scored 10 points.
Coach Kellie Kennedy said, “Despite having a slow start in the first half, I thought we responded with a total team effort in the second half. Garkeiva hit some big shots and played really well for us tonight. We picked the intensity on the defensive end after the half and were able to force some turnovers that helped spark us offensively.”
