John Biguenet's "Rising Water" produced across the country

John Biguenet, Robert Hunter Distinguished University Professor, was named Theatre Person of the Year, and his play, “Rising Water,” was named Best Original Play at the 2008 Big Easy Theatre Awards. “Rising Water” has been produced in the last six months at the Maverick Theater in Fullerton, Calif.; Vineyard Playhouse on Martha’s Vineyard, Mass.; Shadowland Theatre in Ellenville, N.Y.; Unicorn Theatre in Kansas City, Mo.; Bayou Playhouse in Lockport, La.; and Playwrights Theatre of New Jersey in Madison, N.J. It was also presented as a staged reading at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge as part of the university’s Distinguished Visitor Series.
Biguenet’s new play, ”Night Train,” was presented as a staged reading at The Studio of the National Theatre in London. He lectured on “Translating from Page to Stage” at The Center for the Art of Translation in San Francisco. He wrote the introduction to an online portfolio of post-Katrina photographs for a special issue of The Journal of American History titled “Through the Eye of Katrina.” He also wrote “40 Years Wandering Through the Des(s)ert,” as the introduction to the catalogue for “José Maria Cundin: Retrospective,” at the Gallery Bienvenu in New Orleans.
