Falcone qualifies for NAIA national cross country championships

Loyola’s Madeline Falcone came in fourth place in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships last Saturday at the Choctaw Trails.
Falcone ran a personal best and completed the five kilometer course in a time of 20:55.18. She qualified for the NAIA National Championship Meet to be held on Nov. 22 in Kenosha, Wis.
Lauren Fereday was the next runner over the line for the Wolfpack in a time of 21:44.84 (10th), good for a personal best. Other runners for Loyola included Rachel Leonard 22:52.21 (16th), Joilynn Hollies 23:15.16 (19th), Olivia Taylor 24:44.97 (27th), Kristen Francis 24:49.47 (29th) and Annelise Rickert 26:12.88 (30th).
The Loyola women finished in fourth place out of five teams. The Wolfpack had 74 points, just nine points shy of Spring Hill for third.
For the men, Chris Kelliher led Loyola with a time of 31:50.80 in the men’s eight- kilometer meet. Kelliher finished in 17th place. Other competitors for the Wolfpack included Trevor McQueen 32:00.85 (19th), Robert Hayden 34:17.12 (27th), Thomas Palacio 35:25.80 (29th) and Justin Fecke 36:50.09 (32nd). The Loyola men finished fifth out of five teams.
