Loyola volleyball outlasts Millsaps

Loyola’s Gina Gill led the Wolfpack to a thrilling five-game victory over Millsaps 3-2 (25-21, 19-25, 22-25, 29-27, 15-12) in the Hangar Dome on Tuesday night.
Gill, a freshman from Baton Rouge, finished the match with a career high 21 kills. Freshman Lindsay Mullinix also set a career high, as the Mount Carmel grad had nine total blocks. Senior Mary Seals added 18 kills for the Wolfpack (8-1). Seals, an outside hitter from Austin, Tex., was also selected as the GCAC’s Hitter of the Week. In six matches last week, Seals averaged 4.05 kills per game. She also had nine service aces and five total blocks. It is the first time this season that Seals was named GCAC Hitter of the Week, but the fourth time in her career.
For Millsaps (9-12), the leaders included Kate Hall with 14 kills and Dixie Krauss with 31 digs.
Loyola returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 7, against Belhaven. Match time is slated for 7 p.m.
