Statewide student prayer day on Monday

August 15, 2008

Governor Bobby Jindal has issued a statewide proclamation that Monday August 18, 2008 be set aside as a Day of Prayer Over Students. He encourages everyone to pray for God’s protection, guidance, peace and blessings for all students in Louisiana. He also asks that prayers be offered for teachers and administrators to receive God’s wisdom and knowledge as they impart important life lessons to their students.

Accordingly, the Martha and Mary Chapel in Greenville Hall will be open from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, August 18 for private prayer. For those who prefer to pray with others in a group, a united prayer has been set aside from noon to 12:30 p.m. in the chapel. Faculty and staff of all faiths are invited to the group prayer, but everyone is encouraged to take a few minutes at anytime during the day to lift up our students and one another as a new school year begins.
