Loyola head men’s basketball coach and director of athletics and wellness Dr. Michael Giorlando has announced the hiring of assistant coach Richard Hinton to the Wolfpack basketball staff.
Hinton, a native of Merryville, La., comes to Loyola after serving as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Southern University at Shreveport. Prior to working at Southern University at Shreveport, Hinton had stints as a men’s basketball assistant coach at Hill College (Texas), where he was also recruiting coordinator, and at Shores Christian Academy, a high school in Ocala, Florida.
A graduate of LSU in 2000 with a degree in kinesiology with a concentration in sports studies, Hinton served as a team manager for the Tigers men’s team during the 2000-01 season as well as a member of the Lady Tiger scrimmage team from 2000 to 2002.
“We are extremely pleased to have Richard join our staff,” says Giorlando. “I have known Richard since 2001 and he is a dedicated teacher who has a true passion working with and developing young men. He will be an asset to our staff and the Loyola community.”
