Loyola alumni and faculty nominated for Press Club Journalism Awards

Nominees for the Press Club of New Orleans' 50th annual Journalism Awards Competition were recently announced. The following Loyola University alumni and faculty from the school of mass communication were nominated in several categories:

- Mike Nissman, 08 in four categories.
- Ramon Vargas, 09
- Kathleen McCann, 08
- Steve Kashishian, 07 in two categories.
Other Loyola grads among the finalists include John Swenson (English, 90); Clancy Dubos (Law, 93); and Paula Pendarvis (Political Science, 81).
All three finalists for the best sports column category represent the school of mass communication: East, Nissman and Vargas.

The awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, July 19, at Harrahs New Orleans Hotel, at 6 p.m. Hoda Kotb, co-host of the 4th hour of Today with Ann Curry and Natalie Morales, will be the host.
