Jo Ann Moran Cruz, Ph.D., has been selected as the new dean of Loyola University New Orleans' College of Humanities and Natural Sciences. She will begin work at Loyola in January 2009.
Nominees for the Press Club of New Orleans' 50th annual Journalism Awards Competition were recently announced. Loyola University alumni and faculty from the school of mass communication were nominated in several categories.
The Office of Publications and Marketing Communications won two awards at the Jesuit Advancement Administrators 2008 Annual Conference in Milwaukee on June 10. The department won a Bronze award in the category of General Marketing Publications for the Cornet Collection Exhibit Catalog and a Silver award in the category of Admissions Publications for the Campus Map Brochure.
Loyola University New Orleans is proud to announce its first recipient of the McGowan Scholarship, which provides selected universities with scholarships to help students who wish to pursue a business education.
On June 6, Tom Ryan, director of the Loyola Institute for Ministry, delivered a paper titled, "Generation from the Margins: Tradition in the Work of Leonard Cohen" in the Practical Theology section at the 63rd Annual Convention of the Catholic Theological Society of America.
