The department of criminal justice at Loyola University New Orleans and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office (JPSO) have partnered to offer a bachelor's degree program in criminal justice to officers at a discounted rate beginning in June.
Loyola University New Orleans, founded in 1912, is looking forward to welcoming the centennial class of 2012 this fall. The incoming freshman class of 2008 will be the 100th graduating class for Loyola.
The President's Task Force on Safety was established in 2007 to address a number of growing safety concerns on and around Loyola's campus.
The 2008 Bateman team at Loyola University New Orleans recently took first place in the national Bateman public relations competition. The team won with a public relations campaign that promoted Safe Kids Worldwide, an international nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing unintentional childhood injury.

Dr. Barbara C. Ewell, Dorothy H. Brown Distinguished Professor of English, presented a paper, "The Awakening and the Great Storm of 1893," on a panel titled "New Orleans and Catastrophe" at the biennial convention of the Society for the Study of Southern Literature at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.
The College Sports Information Director's Association (CoSIDA) has named Loyola baseball player Kevin Fontenot Academic All-District first team for District Six.
