Loyola’s Borges named GCAC Player of the Week
April 18, 2008
For the week ending April 13th, the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference named Loyola University New Orleans third baseman Josh Borges its Baseball Player of the Week.
Borges, a Belle Chasse native, tied the Loyola single season home run record in a weekend series against William Carey. Borges hit his 11th home run of the season in Saturday’s double header to tie Chad Stouder’s mark set in 2001.
Borges hit .500 in the three game series against the Crusaders and included two home runs, six runs batted in and three runs scored.
Borges and the Wolfpack begin an eight game home stand to close out the 2008 regular season campaign against visiting LSU-Alexandria. Two double headers are scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday at Segnette Field, both starting at 1 p.m.
