Loyola’s dance team shimmies its way to the top

Loyola University New Orleans' dance team took sixth place in the finals of the National Cheerleading and Dance Associations' Collegiate Championship held in Daytona Beach, Fla., April 9-13. The team was one of more than 250 colleges and universities represented at the competition.
The 2007-2008 dance team members who attend the NCA/NDA National Collegiate Championship include team captain Sheri Burley, biology junior from Metairie, La.; co-captain Kelleigh Spencer, political science senior from Grenta, La.; Christen Rhody, music industry sophomore from Metairie, La.; Alysha Jean-Charles, mass communication freshman from Worcester, Mass.; Michelle Fazende, business administration freshman from Lafitte, La.; Sheridyn Miller, psychology freshman from Mandeville, La.; Renee Kelly, chemistry freshman from Harvey, La.; and Allie Minor, sociology senior from Boulder, Colo.
The dance team is an organization that performs at university athletic events and is also dedicated to promoting pride and school spirit throughout the university. The dance team also performs at special university gatherings and at local and regional competitions and events. Membership is open to all full-time students and tryouts are held each fall.
