The 32nd Tom Bell Silver Scribe Competition, held at Loyola University on March 1, pitted 35 students from nine local schools in a daylong series of challenges, including news, editorial, sports, headline, column and feature writing, plus photography and layout.
Student teams from around the area will gather at Loyola to find out who can stand the heat in the kitchen during an annual student Iron Chef Competition. John Besh, a recent competitor on the Food Network's "The Next Iron Chef," will be a special guest judge at the Loyola Asian Student Organization's annual Iron Chef Competition, Thursday, March 27, at 7 p.m.
Loyola adds contemporary art to its landscape with the installation of its first sculpture which will be part of a growing sculpture garden. Acclaimed artist David Borgerding installed Tapatawpa, a stainless steel sculpture, in the courtyard between Marquette Hall and Bobet Hall on March 12.
The Loyola University Community Action Program (LUCAP) presents the Second Annual Global Justice Week, Global Conflicts/Peaceful Solutions, Tuesday, March 25, through Thursday, March 27.
The #15 ranked Loyola Women's Basketball team heads to Jackson, Tenn. for the NAIA National Championship Tournament next week. Join the Loyola community on Freret street on Monday, March 17, at 10 a.m. to send the team off.
This Saturday, Loyola will host several regional high school bands as they travel to perform at the Loyola Invitational Band Festival. These bands, which were selected by taped audition, will have the opportunity to perform for one of the industry's leading educators and composers and this year's guest artist, Francis McBeth.
Staff Conference Day, a day dedicated to the development and appreciation of Loyola's staff and administrators, will be held on Monday, March 17.
