February 22, 2008
The Loyola University New Orleans College of Music and Fine Arts and the Consulate General of France in New Orleans is proud to present Le Groupe Vocal Opera Junior, from Montpellier, France, as part of the 2008 Montage Fine and Performing Arts Series. The group will perform an exciting collection of classical vocal works by composers such as Berlioz, Massenet, Ravel, and Poulenc. The concert takes place Friday, February 22, at 7:30 p.m., in Roussel Performance Hall, located in the Communications/Music Complex on Loyola’s main campus. Free parking will be available on campus in the West Road Garage.
Le Groupe Vocal Opera Junior is a vocal ensemble of 22 students, ages 17 – 25, who are passionate in their pursuit of careers in music. They are devoted to enriching their vocal skills and developing their musical aptitudes through ensemble performance. The vocal group is widely recognized for its original method of instruction and the professional quality of its artistic presentations. One French journalist, Michèle Fizaine from Midi Libre writes, “The performances of the Opera Junior are indisputable…These young interpreters possess such musicality and such a [musical] ear — for dissonance and intervals — it would make professional ensembles jealous.”
Tickets are $15 general admission, $5 Loyola community and students with ID, and can be purchased online at http://mfa.loyno.edu/montage/ or by calling the Loyola Box Office at (504) 865-2074.
