Black Law Students Association holds first alumni reunion weekend

The A.P. Tureaud Chapter of the Black Law Students Association (BLSA) at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law will hold its first alumni reunion weekend, February 29 through March 2.

The opening session will take place on Friday, February 29, at 7 p.m., in the College of Law, Rm. 405. The weekend will continue with a Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program on ethics and professionalism (2 hours), taught by Juana Marine Lombard, on Saturday, March 1, in the College of Law, Rm. 405, at 9 a.m. A scholarship gala will take place on Saturday, at 7 p.m., at the Hilton Riverside New Orleans with keynote speaker Damon Hewitt, assistant counsel, NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund. The weekend will conclude with an awards breakfast at 9 a.m. on Sunday, March 2, in the Audubon Room, on Loyola’s main campus, 6363 St. Charles Ave. Alumni can attend the gala for $80 and the CLE program for $85, or all events for $155.

BLSA was created to ensure the matriculation of African-American law students through Loyola is not only intellectually stimulating, but also a nurturing and positive experience. BLSA serves as a mentorship program for students and continues to be active within the community.
