Loyola University marketing students head to national competition
February 15, 2008
The Loyola University New Orleans’ collegiate chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) has again reached the finals of the AMA National Case Competition. In its past 11 years in this competition, Loyola has won first place in the nation two times, second nationally three times, and third three times.
The National Case Competition, conducted by the AMA, challenges student teams to prepare a marketing plan for a sponsoring company facing an actual problem. This year’s competition featured a challenge by McGraw-Hill Higher Education. As part of the digital exploration, McGraw-Hill plans to launch an ecommerce portal allowing students to directly purchase McGraw-Hill Higher Education textbooks and study aides. AMA case teams were challenged with developing marketing plans to drive students to this ecommerce portal.
The 10 members of Loyola’s AMA student case team include Katherine Hebert, Metairie, La.; Ali Meyer, Arabi, La.; Danielle Sahuque, Destrehan, La.; Greg Rodrigue, Tylertown, Miss.; Ashley Evans, Henderson, Nev.; Alexis Adams, New Orleans, La.; Josh Gruder, Raleigh, N.C.; Paige Kuhlmann, Houston, Texas.; Mauricio Esquenazi, Aventura, Fla.; and Natalie Duran, Miami, Fla. Loyola’s faculty adviser for the AMA Case Team is Dr. Tom Hickman, assistant professor of marketing in the College of Business.
Finals of the American Marketing Association Case Competition will be held at the AMA International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans, April 3–5. More than 1,200 AMA collegiate members will attend this conference.
