Wolfpack women’s basketball Trenese Smith named GCAC Player of the Week

Player of the Week awards are getting familiar to sophomore guard Trenese Smith
who was named the Gulf Coast Athletic
Conference (GCAC) Women’s Basketball
Player of the Week for the week ending December 30, for the second consecutive
Smith nearly matched her season high of 26 points against visiting Rockhurst University when she scored 25 points in a 80-75 loss for the Wolfpack. Smith also added nine rebounds and seven steals in the first game of the Jesuit Classic featuring Rockhurst University, Regis University, and Spring Hill College.
In the second match up in the Jesuit Classic, the Wolfpack fell to Regis University 56-62. Smith added nine points and five rebounds in the game. Over the weekend, Smith averaged 17 points, seven rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 3.5 steals per game.
Smith and the 19th-ranked Loyola women (7-4) continue a five game home stand and begin GCAC Conference play Thursday, January 3, against LSU-Shreveport (4-5). Tip time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in The Den.
