College of Law donates Christmas gifts for children, homeless

The Loyola University of New Orleans College of Law Christmas Angel program, sponsored by University Ministry, collected and distributed Christmas gifts for 32 New Orleans area children this year.
The College of Law Christmas Angel program, run for the past eight years, is affiliated with the Louisiana State Bar Secret Santa program. The College of Law student organizations, groups of individual students, students and their spouses or family, faculty, and staff “adopt” children selected by the Louisiana State Bar and provide them with the Christmas gifts that each child requests.
College of Law students, faculty, and staff also donated coats and blankets, which were delivered to the Center of Jesus The Lord, and lightweight jackets, mittens, hats, jeans, and toiletries were donated to the Harry Tompson Center for the Homeless.
“There was an overwhelming response this year. The generosity of our law community was very evident today,” said Arlene Wiltz, College of Law chaplain.
Also this semester, the College
of Law students helped rebuild
a home with the St. Bernard Project and supported the work of
BoysHopeGirlsHope. The School of Law is committed not only to a theoretical and practical
understanding of the law, but also to the highest ideals of social justice and commitment to service as men and women with and for others.
“I am very blessed to be part of this Loyola law school community,” said Wiltz. “This group of people continually renew my faith and inspire me with hope.”
