Loyola University New Orleans professor and Chair of the Department of Biological Sciences Craig S. Hood, Ph.D., has been awarded the distinction of Fellow by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
For the sixth year, the Loyola Office of Alumni and Parent Relations and the Student Government Association will host their Annual Wolves on the Prowl Community Service Day on Saturday, November 3. Students, alumni, parents, and friends in 13 alumni chapter cities across the country will be working together for the benefit of others
This fall, the National Science Foundation (NSF) funded a proposal by Lynn Vogel Koplitz, Ph.D., Loyola professor of chemistry, for Koplitz and an undergraduate research student to travel to the University of Zurich in summer 2008 in order to do collaborative research.
Author Jon Kukla, Ph.D., will lecture and discuss his newest book, Mr. Jefferson's Women, as part of the Biever Guest Lecture Series at Loyola University New Orleans on November 6, from 7 to 9 p.m. in Monroe Hall, Room 157. The event is free and open to the public.
Vinny Bruno, executive chef for Loyola University Dining Services, was recently highlighted as a star chef in a Times-Picayune article focusing on the career of Ella Brennan, matriarch of the New Orleans Brennan restaurant family.
Loyola and Casa Argentina are pleased to present a screening of Chronicle of an escape (CrÃ³nica de una fuga), a glaring, true story of four men who narrowly escaped death at the hands of Argentina's military death squads during the 1970s.
The students of the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance, hosted by Loyola, will perform as part of the institute's trumpet competition and tribute to music icon and ten-time GrammyÅ½ winner Herbie Hancock. The event takes place October 27 and 28 at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
