We are applying the principles of Green Chemistry to design new “Environmentally Benign” synthetic pathways to inorganic and organic molecules of interest. These pathways include: 1. Replacing organic solvents for synthesis with more environmentally benign alternatives such as water. 2. Use of green renewable, biodegradable solvents for synthesis of new materials 3. Replacing mineral acids with safer solid state acids for Friedel-Crafts reactions 4. Use of microwave energy in combination with Phase transfer catalysis for the greener reduced energy synthesis of group six metal carbonyl complexes
