Tutoring Program

LIEP students meet twice a week after class with their tutors who serve as conversation partners, academic tutors and often become valuable friends as well. The tutors are advanced Loyola students, all native speakers of English, who have a special interest in language teaching and in other cultures. Many LIEP students keep in touch with their tutors long after they have returned to their home countries.

"The tutoring program is certainly one of the strengths at LIEP. I talked with my tutor very much, she is kind and patient and I learned many things from her. When I spoke incorrectly, she corrected my mistakes."

"I learned a lot of English by doing fun things with my tutor."
— Gabriela Molina, Venezuela

"We can receive explanations for many problems with grammar, speech, and life in New Orleans. The tutors can help in many ways, not only in LIEP."
— Miriam Husserl, Colombia

"I can study grammar, listening, reading and practice my conversation skills with my tutor. Since he is a Music student, he helps me with both English and Music. I want to study Music at Loyola after LIEP. I was lucky."
— Natsu Nagae from Japan
