The J. Edgar and Louise S. Monroe Library offers the latest in online technology, as well as traditional book and periodical references. Students and faculty have online computer network access at each table and study carrel, allowing more than 700 simultaneous computer links to millions of resources across the globe.

This state-of-the-art,150,000-square-foot facility has won awards and praise for its architectural design that blends the traditional beauty of Loyola’s campus with the technology and enhancements of a research institution in the 21st century.



The Loyola University New Orleans School of Law Library is housed in the School of Law building, which is on the Dominican campus. It occupies parts of the first and third floors and all of the second floor of the building, a total of over 52,000 square feet.

The Library's full-time staff numbers eighteen, including eight librarians. The Law Library has a collection of over 286,000 volumes and microform equivalents which has the primary purpose of supporting the curriculum and research needs of the School of Law faculty and students.

J. Edgar and Louise S. Monroe Library Makes Top 10 List

Loyola’s J. Edgar and Louise S. Monroe Library has ranked 10th in the “Best College Library” category. Topping the list of “Best College Library” is Harvard. The Monroe Library’s ranking among the top 10 college libraries in the country is a testimony to excellence of its staff and faculty who are committed to customer service and providing the most up-to-date technology and resources to its users.
