Off-Campus Housing

In the post-Katrina housing market there is good news and bad news. The good news is there is available housing suitable for students within walking distance of the law school and within a short driving distance. We are not experiencing a housing shortage in the student housing market. The bad news is that the average rents have increased; expect to pay on the average at least $850 for a one bedroom apartment and at least $1400 for a two bedroom apartment in the university area. You can find lower rents in the university area but the quality is not always consistent.

If you are interested in living at Cabra you must complete a housing contract and submit a $100 Room Guarantee Deposit. The deposit is non-refundable and can be applied to the rent. The housing contract can be accessed online at www.loyno.edu/reslife. Housing contracts are for a full academic year (fall and spring semesters). A significant financial penalty is assessed for breaking the contract.

Also required is proof that you have adequate accident/sickness insurance coverage. Students without their own personal coverage will be required to enroll in the university-sponsored accident/sickness insurance plan.
