How to Test Online

  1. The test is available prior to each registration each semester.  Only students who have previously studied a language for 2 years are required to take the test.
  2. Locate your Loyola ID, your CWID number.  You will fill it in as part of the information for which you are asked.
  3. Click on the test link below.
  4. You create your own account and choose your own password so that you have access to your results.
  5. Choose Spanish or French and take the test.  It takes about 20 minutes.  Take the test only one time.
  6. At the end, a page will correlate your score with one of Loyola’s classes: 100 / 101 / 200 / 201 or 300 and above.  You are able to log back in if you wish to share the results immediately.   The information will also be available on your “U-Achieve" record on LORA.

Important:  If you place at the 300 level, you will be asked to meet with a member of the faculty in the Department of Languages & Cultures.  To arrange a meeting, contact:  Dr. Alice Kornovich, atkornov@loyno.edu.

If you have a problem taking the test or if you think there may be a problem with your placement for some reason, again contact Dr. Alice Kornovich, atkornov@loyno.edu.
