How to Test Online

  1. The test is available 2 weeks prior to each registration each semester.  Only students who have previously studied a language for 2 years are required to take the test.
  2. Locate your Loyola ID, your CWID number.  You need it to log in.
  3. Click on the test link below. (the link will be available during the testing periods)
  4. Use the password:  loynolanguage
  5. Choose Spanish or French and fill in your name and your Loyola ID / CWID. (Loyola does not test the other languages listed).
  6. Take the test and complete it.  It takes about 20 minutes.  You may only take the test one time.
  7. At the end, a page will correlate your score with one of Loyola’s classes: 100 / 101 / 200 / 201 or 300 and above.  You may print this page to show your advisor if you need the results immediately.  After a 2 day delay, the information will also be available on your “On-Course” link on LORA.

Important:  If you place at the 300 level, you will be required to meet with a member of the faculty in the Department of Languages & Cultures.  To arrange a meeting, contact:  Dr. Alice Kornovich,
