Jesuit Summer Institute for Advanced Study 2009

Applications are welcomed from undergraduates of all majors attending one of the 28 member schools of the Association of Jesuit Colleges & Universities (AJCU).  Successful applicants must be endorsed by the provost or academic vice president, academic dean, honors program director or other suitable representative designated by the applicant’s college or university.  Each AJCU member institution that sponsors a fellow will provide airfare to and from New Orleans, meals, and a $500 stipend.  Loyola University New Orleans is responsible for other associated expenses, as well as housing.  When attending the institute, fellows will live on campus in Carrollton Hall learning communities with other JSI fellows.

How to Apply

Click here for the online application.

Student applicants should submit a completed application and a one page double-spaced personal statement of interest explaining their reasons for attending a seminar in and about the city of New Orleans. In lieu of a recommendation, applicants must provide contact information for the suitable representative of their college or university who will endorse the applicant's attendance to the JSI.

Provosts, academic vice presidents, deans, honors program or center directors who are endorsing a student should make sure the student lists your name, your full title and email as their recommending professor in the appropriate fields on the online application. With this information, your endorsement can be verified. Also, if you know you are endorsing a student for admission to the JSI, you can send an email to the Institute to notify us of your endorsement (or if you have any questions).

The extended deadline for applications is April 15, 2009. Applications should be submitted online.
