FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
File Transfer Protocol is an executable program that allows users to transfer their files from their computers or disk to their Loyola account. This tool can be used to publish web pages. This section gives instructions on how to connect to Loyola via ftp. The next section explains how to publish your web site using ftp. Note: You must already be connected to Loyola (either over Ethernet or phone line), to use ftp.
Go to “run” and type ftp. (If you get an error do a file search for ftp.exe. Once you find it double click on it.) A window with an ftp prompt will appear.
Type “open loyno.edu”.
Enter your email user ID and password when prompted. It should respond with a message that the “user is logged in”. You are connected.
Once an ftp session is established, assistance with commands can be found by typing "help". If you would like to view an ftp manual, go to the start and select "run". Type "telnet loyno.edu" . Once you login, type "man ftp". This will display an ftp manual.
