Endowed Chairs and Professorships

The power of personal giving assists in shaping the future of academic excellence for the university. A gift to establish an Endowed Chair or Endowed Professorship means the university can provide and retain the best teacher-scholars in the classroom. Student learning is the core purpose of Loyola University New Orleans and the force that drives the future for the university. The university works to promote academic excellence for its students by providing outstanding teaching and personal learning.

Endowed Chairs

Endowed Chairs must meet the following performance standards: a continuing record of scholarly and creative endeavors, leadership in academic units, pursuit of activities which enhance the reputation of the university, innovative/exceptional teaching, student advisement, mentoring, and leadership, attraction of high quality students, and contributions to the State's economic enhancement.

The minimum level of funding for an Endowed Chair is $1 million dollars, with a 40:60 ratio of Support Fund money to private donations.
