College of Business Funding Priorities

In keeping with the university's general fundraising initiatives the College of Business has defined its top three funding priorities as follows:

  1. The Center for Global Competitiveness
Currently, the College of Business is seeking to significantly expand its offerings in International Business. The envisioned Center for Global Competitiveness will promote the teaching of international business at Loyola University and will advance the region's competitiveness in the global marketplace. The Center will function as a resource for businesses, students, and educators and as a facilitator for growth. Its goals are to promote international business through education, research, and outreach and to improve the competitiveness of American firms in global markets. The programs of the Center will focus primarily on economic issues related to Latin America. Support for this endeavor currently being sought includes an endowment to completely fund the Center, which can be named in honor of the donor (a minimum of $3,000,000), a Named Endowed Professorship, ($60,000 payable over five years, which is then matched by the State of Louisiana's Board of Regents with a $40,000 grant, for a total endowment fund of $100,000) and a Named Endowed Scholarship (minimum of $10,000 payable over five years).
  2. The Technology Endowment
As the global marketplace becomes more technologically competitive, the College of Business is committed to providing its students access to the latest and most advanced computer technology. Computer-based financial simulations and computer forecasting models are just two of the highly advanced resources that are available to the business students. The much needed increase to the Technology Endowment will provide consistent upgrades to the existing products and, as new, more and more sophisticated programs and computers become available, it would provide the funding for these purchases. Donations to the College of Business Technology Endowment can be made in any denomination.
  3. The Endowed Chair Program
The College of Business is always encouraging our friends and alumni to establish Named Endowed Chairs. An Endowed Chair allows the College to add a nationally regarded professor to the faculty. To fund an Endowed Chair, the donor contributes $600,000 or $1,200,000 to the College. The College then petitions the State of Louisiana's Board of Regents for its 2:3 match. The State will match a $600,000 endowment with a $400,000 contribution and a $1,200,000 donation with an $800,000 contribution. Many of our donors find this program a wonderful way to leverage their donations. To date, the College of Business is home to the Legendre-Soule Chair in Business Ethics, the Harold N. Wirth Chair in Economics and the Hilton/Baldridge Chair in Music Industry Studies. We are extremely pleased to announce the receipt of a $400,000 grant from the Louisiana Board of Regents to fund the Gerald N. Gaston Endowed Chair in International Business. We anticipate beginning our national search for the Gaston Eminent Scholar during the next few months so he/she will be in place for the fall semester of 2002.
