Policy

The Coadjutor Optimus Award of Loyola University New Orleans is presented to one Administrative and to one University staff member of Loyola University who demonstrate service above that required or expected, and who are representative of the University’s commitment to its Jesuit values.

Procedure

Nomination & Selection Process

Nominations will be solicited once per year. Nominations may be submitted by any member of the University community. A letter of nomination should include the nominee’s University position and department, and reasons for nomination.

Criteria for Selection

  1. Superior performance over and above that required of one’s job.
  2. The application of excellent judgment by the individual.
  3. Effectiveness in promoting the values contained in the University Goals Statement and the Statement of the Jesuit Character and Commitment of Loyola.
  4. Contribution to making the employee’s office or service unit one that is considered responsive and friendly to the rest of the University community.
  5. Demonstrated effort to learn more about one’s own job, to improve technically and professionally, and to acquire knowledge about the operation of the department and the University.
  6. Supportiveness toward fellow employees.

Eligibility

  1. The recipient must be a full time staff member or a member of faculty whose primary duties are other than teaching.
  2. Vice Presidents of the University are not eligible.
  3. Academic deans are not eligible.
  4. The recipient must have been employed at the University for at least two years.
  5. An employee may receive this award more than once during his or her career at Loyola.

Awards

The awards are presented at the annual staff service award luncheon. The recipient will have his or her name placed on the permanent bronze trophy and will receive a cash award and a personal keepsake plaque.
