What is FACHEX?
FACHEX is an acronym for the Faculty and Staff Children Exchange Program. It is an undergraduate tuition remission program for the children of full-time faculty, administration and staff of the participating institutions. It permits children eligible for tuition remission at their home institution (parent’s employer) to receive the same benefit from another of 26 Jesuit schools.
What Jesuit universities and colleges participate in the program?
Twenty-seven of the twenty-eight Jesuit schools participate in the FACHEX program. Georgetown does not participate. The following schools do participate: Boston College, Canisius College, College of the Holy Cross, Creighton University, Fairfield University, Fordham University, Gonzaga University, John Carroll University, LeMoyne College, Loyola College in Maryland, Loyola Marymount University, Loyola University Chicago, Loyola University New Orleans, Marquette University, Regis University, Rockhurst College, St. Joseph’s University, St. Louis University, St. Peter’s College, Santa Clara University, Seattle University, Spring Hill College, University of Detroit Mercy, University of San Francisco, University of Scranton, Wheeling Jesuit College and Xavier University.
What are the benefits of the program?
Generally, FACHEX awards cover the cost of tuition during the regular sessions for undergraduate studies. However, the individual institution may exclude certain programs from the FACHEX award. For example, study abroad programs and summer sessions are often not covered by FACHEX awards. Also, room, board and fees are not covered by FACHEX.
Is a FACHEX award guaranteed at all participating institutions?
The number of FACHEX spaces is limited at each institution and can be very competitive. Each institution has autonomy over the method used to determine who receives FACHEX. In general the following items can improve a student’s standing: strong academic record, early date of admission, and early date of notification that the student is eligible for FACHEX.
What is the procedure for seeking FACHEX?
- Notify the Loyola FACHEX coordinator that your son/daughter is interested in the FACHEX program. The notification should include the following information: student’s name, address, phone number, year of entrance, social security number, name of the employee that qualifies for the benefit and the school(s) the student is interested in attending (see attached sheet).
- Apply for admission to the participating university/universities of his/her choice. It is the student’s responsibility to adhere to all admissions deadlines at the individual institutions.
- Once an enrollment decision has been made, notify the Loyola FACHEX coordinator.
