Music Management, Marketing and Entrepreneurship

QUALIFICATIONS:  Masters degree or commensurate professional experience required, Doctorate degree or senior management preferred; established national reputation in all aspects of management and marketing required; university teaching experience required; and experience as a performing musician preferred.

DUTIES:  Teach in all areas of music business from the perspective of the musician including specific courses in artist’s management, business management, marketing (including internet marketing), music finance, arts administration, venue/tour/concert management, radio promotion and management.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: Full time Extraordinary Faculty (non-tenure track).  Date of appointment is August 18, 2008 - May 18, 2009

Assistant/Associate Professor of Design in Scenery and Lighting -Posted 11/20/07

Loyola University New Orleans seeks an energetic designer who will contribute to the curriculum in a collaborative undergraduate theatre department.  Candidates must have a strong commitment to both the continued development of a rigorous theatre program at a highly selective undergraduate liberal arts institution, and demonstrated design expertise in both scenery and lighting. Duties include: teaching scenic, lighting and/or stagecraft; design two or more productions per academic year; supervise student design projects; continued professional development, and other obligations of a faculty member. Required qualifications are:  terminal degree (M.F.A. or Ph.D.); previous teaching experience preferred; design and production experience, strong computer skills (Vectorworks and/or WYSIWYG and/or AutoCAD). Skills in audio design an asset, but not required.

Salary is competitive with excellent benefits package. Professor of Economics, College of Business - Posted 11/15/07

The Joseph A. Butt, S.J., College of Business at Loyola University New Orleans seeks an assistant professor of economics commencing the 2008-09 academic year.  This is a tenure track position.  Responsibilities include teaching principles of economics, intermediate theory, other economics courses at the undergraduate and MBA levels.  The individual hired will be expected to advise students and maintain a high level of professional activity through quality research and service.  Minimum qualifications include candidacy (ABD) for the Ph.D. in economics.  The candidate also should have an established record of quality teaching and research.

Loyola University seeks applicants for Director of the School of Mass Communication. The successful candidate will have a broad and forward-looking perspective as well as appreciation of the varied nature of the disciplines within the mass communication field and use that knowledge to develop long-range school programs.

Responsibilities include recruitment of faculty, review of the school’s curriculum, courses and programs, oversight of the school’s quest for accreditation with the Association for Education in Journalism & Mass Communication, maintenance of the school’s image and reputation both in and outside the university.

Qualifications include a Ph.D. or terminal degree in mass communication, advertising, journalism, public relations or a related field, and college teaching experience. Preference will be given to applicants with work experience in the media. Applicants must have tenurable qualifications and will receive tenure upon hiring.

Tenure -Track Faculty Position, Graphic Design
Fall 2008

Loyola University New Orleans College of Music and Fine Arts is seeking a qualified individual with integrated knowledge of visual communication, media design, typography and a thorough knowledge of the history of graphic design for a full-time, tenure track faculty position in the Visual Arts Department. This individual should be able to explore both experimental and practical design issues with the students as well as nurture an individual design process while encouraging conceptual and aesthetic innovation and communication.

Minimum qualifications: MFA degree in graphic design, visual communications or related design field. The qualified candidate must be able to teach a wide range of design including typography, basic graphic composition, image literacy, web design, brand identity design, information design, design writing and research, motion, and exhibition and signage design. The candidate must show a strong background in the principles of graphic design, particularly as they relate to typography and the organization of complex communications as well as demonstrate a facility with current Macintosh software and hardware. The willingness to work in a collaborative educational environment is also an essential qualification.

Desired qualifications include: knowledge of contemporary art, media art and design; the ability to cultivate creativity and experimentation, as well as design research and discourse; and to teach courses that integrate multicultural, cross-disciplinary, collaborative approaches to design thinking and creative problem solving.
