Education Programs for Veterans of Military Service
Developed by the College Board, the people behind AP and SAT, the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) has been the most widely trusted credit-by-examination program for over 40 years, accepted by 2,900 colleges and universities and administered in over 1,700 test centers.
CLEP exams test mastery of college-level material acquired in a variety of ways — through general academic instructions, significant independent study or extracurricular work. CLEP exam-takers include adults just entering or returning to school, military service members and traditional college students.

The Yellow Ribbon Program
The "Yellow Ribbon Program" is a provision of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008 (also known as The Post 9/11 GI Bill). This program allows institutions of higher learning (degree granting institutions) in the United States to voluntarily enter into an agreement with Veterans Administration to fund tuition expenses that exceed the annual maximum paid through the Post 9/11 G.I. Bill. The institution can waive up to 50% of those expenses and VA will match the same amount as the institution.

Treatment Under "Title IV" Student Financial Aid Programs
On July 1, 2009, President Obama signed H.R. 1777, a bill making technical corrections to the Higher Education Act. H.R. 1777 changes the effective date for the exclusion of veterans education benefits as "estimated financial assistance" ("EFA") to July 1, 2009. This exclusion applies to all Federal veterans education benefits regardless of whether the benefits are received by the veteran, his or her spouse, or his or her dependent.
