Financial Aid Application Process
Federal Financial Aid Programs:
Students who are enrolled on at least a half time basis (6 hours per semester for undergraduates) in a degree seeking program can apply for federal financial aid funds to help with the cost of their education.
Application Process:
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (or "FAFSA"). We encourage students to complete the form online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov . Our school code is 002016. You must complete the FAFSA every year.This is your initial application for all federal and institutional "need-based" aid programs.
- Review the information on the Department of Education's Student Aid on the Web. Families can also review this information in spanish
- Young men must register with the U.S. Selective Service System on their 18th birthday. Those who fail to register cannot receive federal student aid.
- Once we receive your processed FAFSA AND you have been accepted into a degree program at Loyola University New Orleans, we will calculate your eligibility for all federal student aid programs.
- Currently enrolled Loyola University New Orleans' students should complete and submit their "Renewal" FAFSA for the 2008-2009 academic year by May 1, 2008.
- Federal Verification Requirements
- Counselors will post your eligibility to your account on Loyola University's Online Records Access System (or "LORA"). For incoming students only, counselors will also automatically send a traditional paper award letter to your permanent home address. Returning students will be notified when their awards have been posted to LORA and will be given the option to also request a paper award letter. The typical aid package will include (based on federal need-based eligibility guidelines)
