Associate Professor of Philosophy, College of Arts & Sciences. Ph.D., 1988, and Master's degrees in Philosophy from Pennsylvania State University and a B.A. in Philosophy from Trinity College (CT). I am advisor to the Loyola Philosophy Club. Courses taught in the Environmental Studies Program include -- Environmental Philosophy (PHIL 143). My area of specialty is ancient Greek philosophy, but current research and teaching interests include environmental philosophy and the relationship between philosophy and mysticism. I have published articles on Plato and Descartes in journals such as Ancient Philosophy and International Philosophical Quarterly. My most recent essay appeared in Tijdschrift voor Filosofie (65?2003, p. 93-119) and is titled, "On Divine Madness, its Relations to the Good, and the Erotic Aspect of the Agapeic Good.".
