Uptown Shepherd's Center

The Uptown Shepherd's Senior Center provides daily exercise classes, skills learning and more for people aged 60 and older. Many of our participants come 3-5 days a week to remain lifelong learners. Some of our activities include: computer class, foreign language, drama club, line dancing, and quilting.

WHAT YOU DO

Service learners will work directly with seniors and need to be patient communicators who can take initiative. Students may be asked to lead an exercise class or work one-on-one with seniors wanting to learn computer skills. Students will also be expected to help with office work. Students need to have a generous spirit, a willingness to jump right in, and a love of older adults.

WHAT YOU LEARN

Service learners will learn about the daily lives of older adults and may become close friends with seniors. Students can learn the skills needed to work in the aging network or in general non-profit field.
