Sprout NOLA

SPROUT NOLA is the on-site garden partner at the ReFresh Project and organizes the ReFresh Community Farm and ReFresh Market. SPROUT NOLA uses gardening as a tool for healthy food access and community health, and is a platform for building power in our communities for food, social, and economic justice.

WHAT YOU DO

The service learner will perform the range of tasks below as well as any others which may arise: grow food with community gardeners; participate in conversations about sustainable community-based agriculture as a solution to social and environmental injustice;

WHAT YOU LEARN

This position is an opportunity for a young leader interested in advancing their knowledge and skills related to food justice and sovereignty by exploring urban agriculture, community gardening, and components of New Orleans’ local food system. This will be achieved through hands-on experience, instruction, support from community mentors and local growers, and exploratory learning.
