The Restoration Initiative for Culture and Community

The Restoration Initiative for Culture and Community, (The RICC), envisions restored families initiating peace and unity in their culture and community. We believe this is achieved through creating environments and solutions that build reconciled relationships, instill character, and expand possibilities.

WHAT YOU DO

Students serving at The Restoration Initiative can expect to have an active role in our developed environments. Service learning students will have the opportunity to be involved in our After School Program. Students will be paired with individual middle/high school students to do one on one tutoring. We will have organize a weekly meet up time that works for both students and Loyola service learning students. Students who are learning Spanish will also have an opportunity to work with our ESL adult program.

WHAT YOU LEARN

Experience the depths of New Orleans community. Loyola service learners will develop valuable skills through intercultural communication with our after school and ESL students. Loyola service learners can look forward to increasing their cultural sensitivity, patience, and leadership skills. Service learners who are looking to make a difference in their community will have opportunity to practice viable strategies that increase the success, and character development, of those in their community.
