Passages Hospice

The mission of
Passages Hospice is to provide "physical, psychological, social and spiritual services defined as hospice & palliative care to those suffering with a terminal diagnosis and to their family members, caregivers and supporters."

WHAT YOU DO

Students will be assigned to visit with our patients either at our inpatient facility, in the patient's home, or at a nursing facility. The student will provide companionship for the patient, relief for the caregiver or help our staff with special activities. Visits with the patients might include reading the newspaper, playing cards, or taking the patient outside.

WHAT YOU LEARN

Students will learn compassion for those outside of their families.  They will get a glimpse of the hope that the hospice care model provides for many patients.  Working with our patients will teach volunteers many life lessons. Volunteers learn not to be afraid of death, but to embrace life, humility and love.
