Learning objective: Students will understand the everyday applications of organic chemistry to real-world problems and issues in fields such as health care, nutrition and food access, and environmental sustainability. By researching an organic chemistry topic relevant to their service learning placement, students will gain experience in applied research and deepen their appreciation for the value and uses of organic chemistry in creating sustainable, healthy communities.
Document all your hours using a service learning timesheet. Submit timesheets to the service learning office twice per semester (midterm and last day of the semester). Check the Loyola Service Learning Calendar for deadlines.
Know that your agency supervisor will submit a performance evaluation on your work at the end of the semester. This evaluation will be given to your professor and incorporated into your class grade. See a sample evaluation>>
