The American Cancer Society's Patrick F. Taylor Hope Lodge is a unique home away from home for those who need warm, caring, no-cost accommodations during their cancer treatment at a New Orleans area medical facility. Cancer patients undergoing active outpatient cancer treatment.
WHAT YOU DO
Volunteers deliver the Hope Lodge program to the patients and their families. They are the heart and soul of the Hope Lodge. Loyola students serving at Hope Lodge can expect to do the following tasks: answer the phones, give guest and donor tours, conduct new guest orientations, and complete various administrative and lodge tasks. Service learners can also participate or lead activities for the Hope Lodge guests, such as Bingo or movie nights.
WHAT YOU LEARN
By serving at Hope Lodge, Loyola students can learn about hospitality management, social work, cancer care, hospital and lodging resource relationships, and other American Cancer Society programs and priorities such as advocacy, research, and access to care.
