The Center for Ethical Living and Social Justice Renewal (CELSJR) serves as a catalyst for social, economic, environmental, and racial justice in New Orleans and beyond through activism, community engagement, organizing and social justice renewal. 

WHAT YOU DO

Students serving at CELSJR will be assigned to many different tasks including those in communications, hospitality, dialogue, administration, cooking, and other tasks as they emerge.

WHAT YOU LEARN

Loyola service learners will have to opportunity to gain an appreciation for and a skillfulness in what it takes to run a volunteer center. Students will have to chance to develop positive relationships with community partners and a deeper understanding of systems of oppression.

INTERACTIONS

visiting volunteer groups • people involved in social justice advocacy or community organizing • adults • high schoolers

PRESERVICE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Students interested in serving at CELSJR should be prepared to have their resume reviewed.
  2. On-site orientation/training sessions.
