The mission of Bridge House/Grace House is to provide gender specific treatment to men and women who have become dependent on alcohol or drugs so that they may lead sober and productive lives. Long-term residential services are offered in an atmosphere that promotes dignity, honor and respect. These services are offered regardless of one's ability to pay. To help financially support the mission of Bridge House/Grace House, the organization runs two thift stores. Members of the community donate items to Bridge House/Grace House. These items are then processed for resale in the thrift stores.
WHAT YOU DO
Serving learning students will work in one of the thrift stores; and tasks may include staffing the jewelry counter, cleaning and organizing sections of the store, and stocking items to be sold. Please note that two positions are available at the Uptown location and four positions are available at the Metairie location.
WHAT YOU LEARN
Students have an opportunity to learn more about fundraising initiatives that support non-profits organizations. Approximately 27% of Bridge House/Grace House’s budget comes from Thrift Store proceeds. These funds provide a steady revenue stream—allowing Bridge House/Grace House to continue to provide it substance abuse treatment programs regardless of ability to pay.
