Return to Loyola Homepage

Dear members of the University Community,

Each week brings more signs of life for Loyola and New Orleans.

This past weekend there was a “re-entry” for our residential students to campus. I was unable to be there, but everything I have heard, from staff, students, and families, has been very positive. There was a great sense of energy and enthusiasm.

Dr. Harris and the deans are working to build our academic schedule for the Spring semester. Right now they are conducting an online survey of students. I urge you to take the time to respond to the survey. It can be found on our homepage
( http://www.loyno.edu ). We will begin registration on 15 November. Again, I urge students to watch the web page for registration details.

In my travels I continue to get questions about the city. Often these questions come from parents and I understand why they are asking them. You can find information on our home page. There is a whole section on “Life in New Orleans.” We regularly update the information in this section and I hope that people will use the information and pass it along to others.

In response to a request from our Board of Trustees I have begun working on a Strategic Blueprint for the University that will guide us through the next few years. I have also continued to travel to raise money for the Loyola Relief Fund. This week I have visited alumni, students, parents and families in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington. I am most grateful to those who have given money or made pledges to the Fund as it is important for the fiscal health of the University.

I hope this letter finds all well.

With prayers and best wishes,

Kevin Wm. Wildes, S.J., Ph.D.

President
