Q I haven’t spoken with my supervisor? Am I supposed to be working or am I excused for the semester?
A Shortly after Hurricane Katrina struck, we committed to pay full-time faculty and staff through the end of the fall semester. The clear assumption was that each of us was making a good faith effort to stabilize our personal situation and begin to contribute to our University's progress. Due to the remarkable efforts of many of our employees, temporary emergency operations have been established in Alexandria , Louisiana and in Houston , Texas . There is much that needs to be done to get Loyola back in operation again.
We know that many people want to return to work but cannot due to circumstances they cannot control. We expect all those who are able to make a good faith effort to begin contributing. Each staff employee is expected to check in through the Temporary Contact Information Form.

Q Can I return to campus buildings? A Loyola University remains closed to students, faculty, and staff. There are several reasons why the university must remain closed and we ask for your continued patience. The primary reasons involve security and safety. The Loyola campus differs from private residences in that it is an open environment. Currently, we do not have a sufficient number of personnel on campus to ensure that those individuals who want to enter our offices, dormitories and other facilities do in fact have a legitimate need for access. Additionally, many buildings on campus are still without basic services such as electricity - generators are providing only minimal amounts of power. Finally, inspection and repair work has already begun on many buildings which sustained damage. This repair work has rendered them inaccessible. The university understands your desire to return to campus. Once security and safety issues have been addressed, we will permit reentry.
Q What if I have a question that isn’t covered on this list?
A Please call the faculty/staff toll-free number at 1-866-767-1330 or e-mail hrdept@loyno.edu. |
